Averett's Chief Instructor is Travis Williams of Chaumont, NY. Williams graduated from Averett in 2000 with a bachelor of science degree in aviation/criminal justice and began flight instructing for Averett in 2002. In March 2004, the Federal Aviation Administration appointed him as Averett's stage check pilot and later in November 2004 he was appointed assistant chief pilot for Averett. In July 2005 he became the youngest appointed chief pilot for Averett University as well as the first Averett graduate to hold this position.
Williams holds a Certified Flight Instructor
Certificate, Instrument Instructor Rating, Multi-Engine Instructor
and Airline Transport
Pilot Certificate. He has given 2000+ hours of dual instruction.
Along with his duties as chief pilot he also is an academic advisor
for the award-winning Averett University Flying Cougars.
