Averett Art Major

Averett's art department encourages its students to build a balanced background in the visual arts rather than to concentrate in a single studio area. Students are also encouraged to have a basic knowledge in art history.

Art majors benefit from two portfolio assessments — the first assessment occurs after 12-15 hours of studio work have been completed, and the second takes place fall semester of the senior year. The department also offers students the opportunity to showcase their work every spring during the annual Student Art Show.
