You will take 21 hours of core courses in both journalism and communication studies - giving you a good background in both areas. Once you complete the 21 core requirements, you can select either the journalism or communication studies track for the remaining 21 hours of the major.
Some of the courses you will take along the way include: digital media, persuasion, mass communication, media law and ethics, broadcasting, communication theory, news and feature writing, group and team communication and editorial and current affairs.

A minor in communication studies is also available. This is a great benefit to students who want to major in business, sport management, equestrian studies, aeronautics, theatre, etc.
