Internships Gaining real world experience and making contacts with potential employers is an important part of the equestrian program at Averett. Not only do we bring national experts to campus on a regular basis, but we ensure that all students make connections by fulfilling a minimum 3-credit hour internship during the summer of their sophomore or junior year. In recent years we have placed students in internships with some of the following riders/trainers and organizations:
What can I do with this major? Averett's strong core curriculum prepares students for a variety of career tracks. Students may go on to graduate school, veterinary school or directly into full-time employment in fields such as stable management, marketing/sales in equine specialty firms, equine journalism, teaching, equine pharmaceutical sales, instructors, managers or nutrition/feed specialists.
