Semester abroad tuition-free at University of Wales

Averett has signed an exchange agreement with the University of Wales, Lampeter and Carmathen campuses, to accept an Averett student for the spring semester 2012.  This is a tuition-free semester, a rare opportunity.  We will help you with the remaining fees for flights and room/board by looking at your financial aid package and helping you to apply for additional scholarships.  All majors are welcome.  French and English Departments to team teach course in spring 2012

The English and French departments will offer a course “England and France: Literary Landscapes of the 19th Century” during the spring semester.  Students must pre-register for the course this fall.  The pre-requisites are any English 200 level course or higher or permission of the instructors.  Knowledge of French is not required.  Students will make a $500 non-refundable deposit around mid-semester.  Please check this web site often for updated information.  Application and intent to participate forms are required

Averett future student-teachers to intern in Carmarthen, Wales

With the cooperation of Averett’s Education department and the teacher certification program, Dr. Pam Riedel will lead a group of Averett future student teachers to the Carmathen campus, University of Wales, in May 2012 for a three week workshop.  The workshop will study the Welsh early childhood education program and our students will be able to assist in Welsh schools.  Cultural opportunities and travel, including a stay in London, will be included in the workshop.  Dr. Franks, Averett President, has agreed to provide $1000 per student up to six students who participate in the workshop.   Contact Dr. Riedel 791-5744 for eligibility requirements and Dr. Wilburn in the Study Abroad Office for an application.

Annual Study Abroad Fair

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The Study Abroad Fair will take place Tuesday September 25 from 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room, second floor Student Center.  Representatives from Averett’s affiliates along with Averett students who have studied abroad will be available to answer your questions.  Drawings for gift cards for students and faculty will be held.  Refreshments.

Alumni and Friends Tour 2012: Ireland

The Averett University Alumni and Friends tour for 2012 will take place June 1-11 2012 in Ireland.  We will travel around Ireland visiting enchanting sites and cities including Dublin, Waterford, Killarney, Limerick, Galway and Sligo.

Affiliates Offer Minority Scholarships

Our affiliates CAPA and ISA now offer substantial scholarships for minority students.

The University of Dundee, Scotland now offers summer sessions for international students in the following departments:

  • College of Life Sciences
  • College of Architecture
