We will explore preservation's historical roots as well as the broader, modern field of preservation and how it is practiced today.
The course will also introduce the wide and diverse range of preservation policies, programs and tools such as historic districts, historic register listings, historic tax credits and easements.

Instructor: Richard Morris and Mark Willard This course will include a brief overview of historic housing styles and how to identify the different characteristics of each, what to know on your journey when looking for an old house to buy and restore, and the "dos" and "don'ts" of proper house restoration.
The course will also help answer the following questions: When looking for an old house to restore, where do you begin? How do you determine if the property you found is worth investing time and money to restore? How do you determine structural integrity of a historic building? Where do you find individual professionals that are qualified to work on old structures? What are the benefits of utilitizing state and federal historic tax credits during the restoration process?

In addition, the students will be shown that for exotic pictures of wildlife, they do not have to go any farther than the Danville Riverwalk.

Making very pretty, one of a kind puzzle pins and earrings in various colors. The class will cover the making and decorating 2 puzzle pins and one pair of earrings. If you are not a crafty person that's OK because this is very easy to do and will have your own personal touch.
All you need to bring with you is a bottle of tacky glue (no super glue), pair of tweezers (helpful in placing beads) and a small towel to work on so your beads won't roll.
