Averett Singers & Handbell Choir The Averett Singers & Handbell Choir delight audiences throughout the community and the region. Special performance tours have included: Florida, Delaware, North Carolina and New Orleans. The Singers offer two major concerts a year and perform at various university functions. Their vast musical repertoire ranges from "Te Deum" by Mozart to "How Can I Keep From Singing" to "Erev Shel Shoshamim" (Evening of Roses), an Israeli folksong that is sung in Hebrew. The Averett Singers is open to both music majors and non-music majors. Audition is required. Find out more about our Music Major Complete Arts@Averett Schedule Gospel Choir Averett's Gospel Choir is a diverse organization that sings at churches of all denominations. Their repertoire ranges from gospel music to contemporary songs to praise and worship. The choir is open to anyone. Audition is not required. In addition to singing at area churches, the group performs at campus functions including Averett’s Christmas celebration. In 2006, the choir participated in an event sponsored by the Rev. John P. Kee, a national recording artist and pastor of New Life Church in Durham, N.C.
