Short but Sweet

The spring Arts@Averett series kicks off Jan. 28-30 with the theatre department's production of "A Night of Short Scenes." All shows are at 7:30 p.m. in Averett's Pritchett Auditorium. Faculty and staff may attend the show for free.

The production features short scenes from several favorite plays and playwrights. Theatre Professor Jackie Finney is directing Robin Rothstein's "In a Manner of Speaking," which explores relationships and language, and David Howard's "Electric Roses" which deals with friendship and spousal abuse.

The evening will also feature a ten-minute play "The Sure Thing," directed by Penny Sornberger, assistant professor of theatre. Written by David Ives, "The Sure Thing" is a humorous look at dating communication and miscommunication. Scenes from a trilogy "Amber Graves of Wane," directed by Theatre Professor Richard Breen, round out the offerings.
