New Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) held their elections Monday, April 12. The following students were elected to represent the student body for the 2010-11 school year:
President: Kris Echols
Vice-President: Christina Sinnott
Treasurer: Stephen Foster
Secretary: Samantha Prunty
Senators: Emily Crabb, Derek Forney, Donte Johns, Steven Newcomb, Esther Njuguna, Shamel Tucker, Christ West
They will start their terms at the beginning of the school year in August. Be sure to congratulate these students as you see them around campus during the final days of the semester.
Welcome Cari McGregor!
Cari McGregor has joined the university family as the new manager for the bookstore, which is now run by Follett. Stop by the bookstore and say hello when you get a chance.
Congratulations, Tiffany!
Tiffany Mitchell, her husband Fred, and daughter, Shailyn, welcomed Xavier Winfield Mitchell on Easter morning at 3:52 a.m. He weighted 6 lbs. 13 oz. Mom and son are doing fine! Tiffany is an academic advisor for the Adult Professional Program.
Marsh's Artwork to be on Display
Art Professor Robert Marsh will display a new body of work in oil pastels beginning April 30 and running through June 5 at Lee Hansley Gallery, Too in Raleigh N.C. (126 Glenwood Ave.) There will be a reception for the public Sunday, May 16 from 2-5 p.m. For more information, the gallery can be reached at (919) 600-0441.
Poetfools to Celebrate Garbett's Retirement
Poetfools, a poetry critique group from the Triangle area, will celebrate Ann Garbett's retirement with a public reading at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 22 in Blount Chapel. Ann and the others will read from their recent work. All friends and members of the Averett family are invited. Poetry is always free!
