Welcome, Holly!
Holly Kilby, someone who probably needs little introduction as she is a 2009 graduate, has joined the university as the new director of academic services (the position formerly known as director of academic resources). Along with serving as the new director, Holly is pursuing her master of education degree through Averett.

Welcome, Matt!
Matt Parke has joined the university as the new head men's basketball coach. Matt joins us from Division III rival Guilford College (we stole him) where he was associate head coach for the past four seasons.

Foster Represents Averett at Conference
Marsha Foster, director of residence life represented Averett at the Gallup Strengths Quest Educators Seminar in Chattanooga, Tenn. May 11-12. The workshop drew educators from all over the country. Strengths Finder is an assessment tool that focuses on identification and affirmation of an individual's unique talents and potential strengths. Campuses across the country are using the information from this tool to engage and empower students, faculty, and staff to unleash their potential both in and outside of the classroom. Residence Life at Averett is committed to being a strengths based department as we open the 2010-2011 academic year. Staff will participate in training and workshops over the next few months. We look forward to engaging and celebrating the unique strengths in ourselves and others through our service to students and community this coming year.

Congratulations, Christy!
Christy Pack, executive director of enrollment for the Adult Professional Program, is pleased to announce a new addition to her family. Olivia Christine Pack was born May 4, weighing 8 lbs 5.9 oz. and 21.5 inches long.

A Note from the Paternites
Joe and I cannot find the words to express our thank yous enough to all of the Averett family, all of the flowers, cards and prayers. Lisa did not like her job, she "LOVED IT." Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to be there. We appreciate it more than you will ever know.

God bless,
Joe and Carol Paternite (Lisa Paternite's parents)

Thanks from Kathie Tune and Family
Dear Friends,
Thank you all for your cards and kind words and many gestures of generosity following the passing of Scotty's mom, Hilda. Mrs. Tune thought Averett was a very special place. And she was right.
