Fitness Center Hours
This semester, the hours for the Main Campus Fitness Center are as follows:
Mon.-Fri., 7 a.m.-11 p.m.
Sat., 12-8 p.m.
Sun., 12-10 p.m.

Give the Gift of Warmth
The office of student activities is collecting gently used coats and blankets from Jan. 18-28 for the House of Hope Homeless Shelter. Donation boxes will be set up in the Student Center and the lobby of Main Hall. Any questions should be directed to lvillarose@averett.edu.

The faculty/staff campaign finished with a bang, with total giving for the fall at 48 percent - a 70 percent increase over last year.

Prayer Breakfast to Honor King's Legacy of Change
More than 150 years ago Averett did something not many other people were doing at the time educating women. The University continues to try and break the mold and this month is honoring someone else who did the same Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Join the University at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17 for a community wide prayer breakfast honoring King's legacy.

NKOTB (New Kids on the Block) @ Averett
A warm Averett welcome is extended to:
Thom Davis is the University's new vice president for business and finance and the chief financial officer. He joined the University Dec. 1. He is a certified public accountant and has 25 years of experience in finance and accounting in private education and the public sector.

Tune Named Chair of HR Committee
Kathie Tune, '79, vice president of human resources, has been named as chair of the Student Chapter Relations Committee for the Southside Virginia Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. She will serve in this position for the rest the year.


Admissions Staff Represent University at VACRAO
Kathie Tune, Dr. Stuart Jones and Andrew Boor attended the (Virginia Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers) VACRAO annual meeting at Wintergreen Resort Dec. 8-10. Kathie served as president of the organization last year. She gave a workshop on "Soaring with your Strengths." Stuart also presented a workshop, "Recent Challenges and Opportunities in Recruitment." Andrew is the treasurer of the organization.
