Give Blood, Save a Life
The University is hosting a blood drive in coordination with the Danville Regional Blood Donor Center from 1-5 p.m. April 19. The Bloodmobile will be in the parking lot of the Student Center. A picture ID is required to donate blood. All donors will receive a T-shirt.


Healthy Solutions
All participants (employees, spouses and adult children) in the employee health plan have the opportunity to participant in a free wellness clinic April 19, 20 or 26 from 7:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. in the Student Center multipurpose room. Interested participants must register for their morning of choice and fill out an assessment form prior to their registration date and time. Assessment forms will be sent via inter-office mail for those who have registered.

End of Year Shindig
The faculty/staff end of year luncheon will be held April 28 beginning at noon in the dining hall. We will recognize those who have achieved milestones in years of service and retirees. Please RSVP for the luncheon by April 18 to Emily Cropp.

Disney Favorites and Rock Classics Featured in Equestrian Show
Journey to Africa and India this weekend without leaving the U.S. Actually, you just have to drive over the border into Providence, N.C. and from there to our Equestrian Center for a special equestrian production.

Short Scenes Take the Stage
On April 14 & 15 at 7 p.m. Averett theatre students will perform eight short scenes that they have created and directed. The shows are free to Averett students, faculty and staff. Be aware there is adult subject matter in the scenes.


 

 


 

Singers Concert for Campus Community
The Averett Singers and Guitar Ensemble invite students, faculty and staff to attend a special campus concert Tuesday, April 12 at 11:45 a.m. in Blount Chapel. The program will last approximately 30 minutes to allow time for lunch. The Singers thank you in advance for coming to hear their spring musical event.

Brazil Bound
Freshman Sandra Johansson didn't have to say a word. She let her feet do the talking instead. Her soccer skills have landed her on the USA D-3 Soccer All-Star Team during its tour of Brazil.

Dr. Kathleen Quinn has been named chair of our nursing education program. Kathleen joins us from the College of Coastal Georgia where she recently designed the curriculum and oversaw the implementation of its nursing program. Welcome, Kathleen!

 

Liz Hickey is our new women's basketball coach. For the last three seasons Liz served as assistant coach at the University of Rochester, helping guide the Yellow Jackets to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances - including a 2010 trip to the Division III Final Four. Make sure you extend a warm welcome to Liz when you see her on campus.
