Richmond Job Fair Deemed a Success
On Oct. 10, Averett's Richmond team hosted their second annual Job Fair at the Watkins Centre Campus. This year, more than 50 employers - 16 more than last year - participated. The event also included four workshops: résumé writing, interview skills, professional image and electronic job searching. More than 650 job seekers attended the Job Fair and 84 of them inquired about Averett degree programs.

The event received live media coverage from two major news stations in the Richmond area and it was the story of the day on one of those stations. In addition, survey results from the participating employers and the job seekers have stated it was one of the most organized and best job fairs they have participated in or attended. Approximately 20 of the job seekers have interviews scheduled due to attending the fair.

"I am thrilled with our results!" said Melissa Anderson, regional director of enrollment. "It is an amazing feeling to know that a project we all put many hours and hard work into is helping to change the lives of many members of our community.

"I could not be more proud of the Job Fair Team and the talent, hard work, creativity, dedication and passion they put into making our event a success. Congratulations and a huge WOW and THANK YOU to Tony Wilson, Courtney Etheridge, Mandy Owens, Michelle Rateau and Lacey Lester!"
