 | Support the Aviation Program
The aviation program has two events coming up later this month that faculty and staff are invited to attend and participate in.
At 4 p.m. Friday, March 23 The Flight Operations Center will be named in honor of Dr. George J. Falk who served as the director of financial aid for many years and is credited with being the driving force behind starting the aviation program. Please join us for the ceremony and open house at the flight center.
In addition to the dedication of the Dr. George J. Falk Flight Operations Center on Friday, several alumni from the program will be on campus to pass on their knowledge to current students in the program.
At 1 p.m. at the Goodyear Golf Course on Saturday, March 24, several Averett alumni are hosting a golf tournament to support the Averett flight team's trip to the national NIFA competition. If you are interested in joining, please call Dan Hayes at ext. 17252 for details.

Men's Basketball Wins Sportsmanship Award
Congratulations to Coach Matt Parke and the Averett Men's Basketball team, who won the USA South Athletic Conference's Sportsmanship Award for Men's Basketball for the 2011-12 winter sports season.
This is the fourth time the men's basketball team has received the award. The team previously was the award recipient in 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09.
The USA South Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee instituted a Conference-wide Sportsmanship Award in 2004-2005 in recognition of the importance of sportsmanship to college athletics. For each of the 11 Conference-sponsored team sports, all team members vote for the teams he or she deemed to have demonstrated the best overall sportsmanship throughout the season. The team garnering the most votes receives that sports' Sportsmanship Award.
