|Ribbon Cutting and Dedication|
On Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 3 p.m. the University will celebrate the opening of our new Health Sciences Innovative Practice Center at the Riverview Campus. All faculty and staff are invited to attend this exciting event. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Jennifer Hooper by Aug. 10.
|New Employee Orientation|
All new faculty and staff members are invited to attend the New Employee Orientation Program on Friday, Aug. 17, from 8:45 a.m.-2:15 p.m. Please plan on joining us for the day's events. A full schedule of the day can be found under new employees and hiring on the human resources human resources web page.
Supervisors and department chairs, please encourage all of your faculty and staff to attend.
|Faculty & Staff Opening Events|
Please remember to RSVP by Aug. 9 for opening events on Thursday, Aug. 16 via the invitation. A breakfast buffet will be served from 8-9:15 a.m. During the breakfast we will welcome new members of the Averett family and hear important campus updates. Following the breakfast there will be a faculty meeting beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room and then a staff meeting will be held there beginning at 1:15 p.m. At the end of the day Dr. Franks and Joe Franks will host a reception at their home (500 Hawthorne Drive) for faculty and staff and their spouses or guests.
|Workshop for Directors and Managers|
Attendance is strongly encouraged for a meeting and workshop for hiring managers and administrative assistants scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 9-10:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the Student Center. The workshop agenda will include hiring processes for part-time employees (student and non-student), time sheets, required documents, payroll law and timetables and new employee orientation.
Email your questions in advance to Tammy Wall at email@example.com in order to add them to the roundtable discussion session. The workshop will be presented by Andy Fitch, controller and Kathie Tune, VP for human resources and facilitated by Tammy Wall, senior accountant.

|Summer Series of Something Part Quatro|
The Summer Series of Something wraps up Thursday, Aug. 2, at noon when Petrina Carter, director of career services presents “Diversity Initiatives at Averett University” in the multipurpose room of the Student Center. A boxed lunch will be available.
|Technology Training Offered|
Faculty and staff are encouraged to take advantage of hands-on workshops offered by Instructional Technologist Kim McMurtry. August workshop topics include Outlook Email and Moodle. Schedule and registration
