The University's emergency alert system is designed to send users a message via email and/or mobile phone in the case of a campus emergency.

During the Honors Banquet, the student life office will be honoring members of the Averett community with their awards. They are looking for nominations in the following categories:
Student leader of the year
Advisor of the year
Organization of the year

Consultant BerryDunn conducted a comprehensive IT assessment at Averett last year, and one of the recommendations was that an intranet website should be established to improve internal communications and disseminate employee-specific information. The IT department has established an intranet site at myinfo.averett.edu using a content management system, which allows content editors in various departments and offices to edit their own content.
The site is in its first phase of development. The President's Council has identified content editors for offices and departments, and this week, the content editors are receiving training and are beginning to add content to their pages.
The intranet is password-protected, so employees will need to log in with their usual Averett username and password to view the site. Any issues related to the intranet should be reported to the IT HelpDesk using the category labeled "intranet."
|Movin' on Up|
The instructional technology web pages have moved and are now incorporated into the new intranet site. If you had set any bookmarks or favorites, they will need to be updated. In addition, since the intranet is password-protected, you will need to log in with your Averett username and password. The new intranet is located at myinfo.averett.edu.
Visit the instructional technology pages for software how-to videos and register for hands-on workshops. Upcoming workshops include CamStudio (March 13 & 14), Moodle Gradebook (March 19), Moodle Activities (March 20) and Cloud Apps for File Storage and Sharing (March 28).
The equestrian studies department has several events coming up over the next two months that are open to the public. If you've always wanted to learn more about our equestrian studies department, this is your opportunity to see them in action.
• March 16, Dressage and Combined Test Show - open to the public for spectating and competing
• April 3-5, United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Instructor Certification Workshop, these workshops are for instructors preparing to sit for certification exams from the USDF. The workshops are also open to auditors who wish to increase their overall depth and breadth of theory in dressage. USDF faculty and examiners will be coming from around the country and around the globe. Participants in this year's workshop, along with AU students, are from California, North Carolina, New Jersey and Connecticut.

|Accessing Staff Meeting Minutes Through Moodle|
Staff can now access the University staff meeting minutes via Moodle. Here's how to access them:
Go to the Averett web page www.averett.edu; click MyAverett, then click Moodle; the login is in the upper right corner of the screen; select login and fill in your user name and password (the usual ones for network access); click administrative updates and scroll down; click the staff folder, followed by the University staff meeting minutes file you want to read (agenda on the first page, followed by minutes); then logout when finished (upper right corner).
|Celebrating International Women's Day|
Don't forget about the upcoming event hosted by the Women's Leadership Circle on Tuesday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room. Lenora Billings-Harris, international diversity expert, will be speaking on "Women Leaders: Removing Barriers to Success." She will explore strategies, best practices and more from examples of powerful women making a difference.
