|Intranet Development Continues|
During phase two of our intranet development process, content editors representing departments, offices, groups and committees are adding content to their pages so that internal employee information can be removed from the public website. Take a look at their progress here.
The purpose of the Averett intranet is to share resources specific to employees, so employees will need to log into the site:
1. Click the "Averett Fac/Staff Login (click here first)" button
2. Type in your regular Averett username and password
3. Click the "login" button
If your login fails, it might be because you didn't select "Averett Fac/Staff" first, so just click "Home" and try again.
|Hit the Links!|
All Averett faculty, staff and students are allowed to play golf at South Hills Golf Club for cart fees (18 hole cart fee per person - $15; 9 hole cart fee per person - $10). Greens fees will be waived if playing after 11 a.m. on any day except holidays. You must present your Averett ID for the offer to be valid. Tee times are requested, but not required.
|University Staff Meeting|
Just a reminder that the next University-wide staff meeting is Thursday, March 21 at 11:15 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the Student Center. Hope to see you there!

|Using Cloud Apps for Collaboration and Storage|
Faculty, would you like your students to work together to develop team papers, projects or presentations? Staff, do you need to collaborate with others to prepare documents or presentations? Free cloud apps can facilitate collaboration online, allowing group members to build ideas using a wiki, chat synchronously, share files, draw on a shared whiteboard and more.
Or just use cloud apps for storage. Instead of carrying a flash drive to the classroom or from home to the office, access your course presentations and files online from anywhere.

|Growing and Protecting our Brand|
We have partnered with Strategic Marketing Affiliates, Inc. (SMA) to help us better protect and promote our fast-growing brand. SMA is a leader in the collegiate licensing industry, representing more than 280 colleges and universities throughout North America.
The new partnership will enable us to establish and manage a responsive and profitable licensing program for all of our promotional merchandise, on all 12 of our campuses and beyond. It will also help us protect the integrity of our institutional logos, and empower Averett to sell our trademarked merchandise more aggressively through local, regional and national retailers, as well as via e-commerce.

The Faculty, Staff & Retiree Appreciation Luncheon will be held April 25 at noon in the Student Center dining hall. Be on the lookout for invitations, which will be arriving in your inboxes the first week of April (Make sure you check your junk mailbox too in case it goes there). We hope to see you there!
|Honoring our Colleagues|
It's time to honor our colleagues with the annual Outstanding Faculty and Staff awards. Nominating a faculty or staff member for this award is a great way to recognize a co-worker, instructor, peer or mentor who has had a significant impact on Averett. As you are writing up your nomination, please remember to give a detailed explanation as to why you are nominating this person. This will help the nominating committee in their deliberations.
The awards will be presented on April 25 during a luncheon for faculty, staff and retirees. Visit the

|Coffeehouse Lecture: Exploring the Future|
In an ever-changing global economy, knowledge of other cultures is becoming more and more important. On Tuesday, March 26, Dr. Catherine Clark and Dr. Larry Wilburn will discuss international study as part of Averett's 1859-Coffeehouse Lecture Series. Wilburn will present the history of study abroad at Averett – its founding and initial programs. Clark will share the University's future goals, including the importance of international education in the 21st century and options for internationalizing the curriculum at small liberal arts colleges. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the multipurpose room of the Student Center.
|Sam's Club Reminder|
The University's Sam's Club representative, Karen Shields, will be on campus today, Wednesday, March 20 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the dining hall. She will return Tuesday, April 9; and Wednesday, April 17. She will be renewing current memberships as well as have information for new accounts. A membership to Sam's is $40, and a $10 gift card comes with your new account or renewal. If you are renewing your membership or opening a new account, bring your payment in either cash or check, the debit machine is not available this week.

Three Wellness and Health Screenings are scheduled for your convenience and health management this spring. The Gateway Health nurses will be on campus, Wednesday, April 3; Thursday, April 4; and Friday, April 5, from 7-10:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the Student Center.
The Health Risk Assessment and Screening Registration forms are available online for those employees on the Averett University health plan. Visit www.gatewayhealth.com, select "login, members" and login to your Personal Health Record.
