|Looking for a Few Good Men and Women!|
If you care about kids and are looking for a way to do some team building at the office, then Bowl for Kids' Sake is right up your alley (pun intended)! Bowl for Kids' Sake has been Big Brothers Big Sisters' signature fundraising event around the country for more than 20 years.
Petrina Carter, director of career services, is looking to form a few teams from Averett. Teams, which consist of four people, bowl for free and receive a T-shirt. Bowl For Kids' Sake will be held on Saturday, March 8 from 1-4 p.m. If you are unable to bowl you can still help by making a donation! For more information please contact Petrina at ext. 15629 or email@example.com.
John Guzlowski, professor emeritus at Eastern Illinois University, will offer a poetry reading at Blount Library on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 11:20 am. Guzlowski's work, including "Lightning and Ashes" and "Third Winter of War: Buchenwald: Poems" recalls the voices of his parents, who survived their slave labor experience in Nazi occupied Poland, and of other civilians and soldiers who immigrated to Chicago after the war. |Nursing Program Update|
In addition to welcoming two new members to the department (see this week's NKOTB), the nursing program currently has five students enrolled in the first class, which will graduate in December 2015. The department's faculty and staff are excited and feel fortunate to have its current team on board. They look forward to great success and "bold futures" for our students through the Averett School of Nursing.
