The 1859-CoffeeHouse lecture that was originally scheduled for Jan. 28 has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 25. Please join us as Dr. Ralph Hawkins, associate professor of religious studies, presents "Holy War in Ancient Israel and the Near East." This event will be at 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the Student Center and is free of charge.
|Dates for Equestrian Summer Camp|
Averett's equestrian studies program is pleased to announce the dates for its summer riding camp. Riding camp, which is designed for students ages 7-15, will run May 26-30 at the Equestrian Center off of Gammon Road in Providence, N.C. Applications are now being accepted. |Concert Tickets Available|
The Danville Concert Association has made a limited number of tickets available to Averett faculty and staff for the concert by guitarist Ana Vidovic on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at George Washington High School. There is a limit of two tickets per person. Contact Jennifer Hooper at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your tickets.
|University to Celebrate Founders' Day|
Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the University's annual Founders' Day celebration, which will be held next Thursday (Feb. 20) at 11:15 a.m. in the newly renovated Pritchett Fine Arts Center.
|Moodle Rubrics Workshop Offered|
Do you use a rubric to grade assignments? Moodle offers the option to grade assignments using a rubric - just click in the appropriate cells, and the grade is calculated for you! Register for the Moodle Rubrics workshop at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, to learn how to set up a rubric and grade assignments. See the complete schedule on the intranet for additional workshops or email Kim McMurtry with questions.

Did you know that Averett faculty, staff and students can read The Chronicle of Higher Education online from any internet location? Begin at the Blount Library home guide, or link directly from here with your Moodle username and password.
If you sign up for Chronicle newsletters and click on a story in the email, simply add ".ezproxy.averett.edu" after "chronicle.com" in your web browser, and the subscribe prompt will go away.

Please mark your calendars for the February University Staff Meeting, which will be held on Feb. 27 at 11:15 a.m. in the Student Center multipurpose room. At 11 a.m. (same day/same place) Coffee & Cookie will be offered immediately prior to the meeting. We hope to see you at both!
|National Girls & Women in Sports Day|
Please note that due to impending inclement weather, the 1950's halftime exhibition game that was to be played tonight during the women's basketball game will be played during halftime of the game against Greensboro College next Wednesday (Feb. 19). The women's basketball team will tip off at 5:30 p.m. at the North Campus.
Following the women's game will be a men's game at 7:30 p.m.
We hope you'll join us for a night of family fun!
Next Tuesday (Feb. 18) at 3 p.m. the University will celebrate the completion of the phase one renovations of the Pritchett Fine Arts Center with a grand opening event. We hope everyone will join us!
|Hamlin to Serve on Autism Council|
Dr. Jill Hamlin, director of autism studies, has been invited to serve on the board for the Virginia Autism Council. Congratulations, Jill!
She also serves on The Arc of Southside Board with Dan Hayes and Dr. Susan Huckstep.
