On Saturday, April 12, Averett will be hosting its first Autism Awareness Expo! If you, or someone you know, are affected by autism spectrum disorder stop by the Grant Center on Saturday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. to learn about services available in the community. See the flyer for more information.

Are you offering a new course you want your colleagues to know about? Are you holding workshops, lectures or camps in, and for, the community? Or is there someone new in your department? The March 20 university staff meeting minutes have been posted to the Intranet. Please review the minutes at your convenience.
The next Coffee & Cookie will be Thursday, April 17, at 11 a.m. in the multipurpose room, followed at 11:15 a.m. by the University staff meeting. Please mark your calendars.
Staff, please start thinking about professional service and consider serving on Staff Council. If there is someone you would like to nominate, talk to them and see if they're open to the idea. Four members are finishing their terms so their positions will need to be filled.

Wellness Screenings for anyone on the Averett Health Plan will be held on Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30 from 7-10:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the Student Center. Registration for screening appointments is available at: http://www.healthgram.com/screeningcal.

IHSA Team Closes a Successful Season
The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) team finished the competition year with great success. Overall the team finished in fourth place out of 10 teams in the region, and 12 riders qualified for post-season competition in their divisions. Of those 12 riders, Marina DaSilva and Adeline Bova placed high enough at the Regional competition on Sunday, March 30 to qualify for Zone competition on Saturday, April 5. They traveled with Coach Cricket Morris to Berry College in Rome, Ga. to attempt to qualify for the National finals to be held in May.
During the IHSA Zone finals competition on Saturday, Marina placed sixth in the Open Over Fences competition and Adeline finished seventh in the Walk/Trot competition. Congratulations to Marina and Adeline on a strong finish to the year!
