On Friday, March 23, the University dedicated the Dr. George J. Falk Flight Operations Center. Falk was a former director at Averett who was a leader in bringing the aviation program to fruition. Pictured are Falk's family, his wife Betty is second from the right, Averett President Dr. Tiffany Franks and Buddy Rawley, vice president for institutional advancement as they cut the ribbon during the ceremony
As the final papers are written and graded, and our student-athletes play their final games, the University prepares for a month of celebrations - from honors banquets, to sports banquets and finally, the culmination of years of study and hard work, Commencement. This is not only an exciting time for our students and their families, but for our faculty and staff as we celebrate their accomplishments with them. We are also celebrating Autism Awareness Month by joining the celebration of World Autism Awareness Day on April 2 by "Lighting It Up Blue." Our Main Hall columns will feature blue spotlights to help shine a light on autism. A photo is posted on Averett’s Facebook page.
While the semester is wrapping up, there is still a lot going on. On April 10, we host author Casey Clabough as part of our Authors on Campus Series, and our annual Student Art Show is on display in the multipurpose room of the Student Center until April 14.
I hope you are enjoying this wonderful spring weather and that we see you on campus during some of our final events this semester.
