This summer is already looking to be a busy one. Various professors and students will be traveling abroad. This spring, we offered a course co-taught by professors from the English and French departments called "Literary Landscapes." The travel portion of the course will take place in France and England in May. A group of Averett student-teachers and faculty in teacher education will be traveling to Wales for a two-week internship at the Carmarthen Campus at the University of Wales. In addition, students in our Honors Program will be studying in Munich, Germany. And that's just what is going on overseas!
Here on the Main Campus we will be hosting Passport, Youth Camp with a Mission, which provides Christian programs for students. Passport will bring 900 high school youth to Danville over a three-week period. These youth will be out in our community performing various community service projects. In addition, we will hold our annual sports camps for children, two summer orientations and welcome students who are participating in the Upward Bound Program. We will also be continuing work at our new Riverview Campus in preparation for the grand opening of the health sciences floor, repaving the parking lot behind the library and making continued improvements to the residence halls.
We hope to see you around campus soon!
