September 2012 September is a month of new beginnings and exciting changes at your hometown University. For the third year in a row we have set a record for new student enrollment in our traditional undergraduate program with more than 360 new students joining the Averett family this fall. In addition to welcoming new students, we have welcomed new faculty and staff members with a variety of expertise to our ranks. I hope many of you were able to attend the ribbon cutting for the opening of Averett’s new Health Sciences Innovative Practice Center and the Riverview Campus Open House. Students are now enrolled in the bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) for registered nurses program, which will have a profound effect on the healthcare industry in our region. In addition to beginning classes for our new BSN degree, we are now recruiting and enrolling students for our new online MBA degree program which will begin in January. This is just one of a number of new academic program initiatives the University has been developing. I invite you to come by and see firsthand all of the exciting things we have going on, including our first Arts@Averett event – the adaption of "Jungalbook" presented by our theatre department.
