A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
Writer Thomas Merton once said "Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time." If you've ever felt like Merton, you're in luck. Averett's annual student art show opens March 11 and runs through April 7.
The show, which will be in the multipurpose room of the Student Center (second floor), will feature pottery, crafts, sculpture, prints, drawing and painting. Many of the pieces of art will be on sale — there will be a complete list of students and email addresses for interested individuals who wish to purchase something. Art work that is purchased may not be removed until the end of the show.

Exploring the Future: International Studies & Travel
In an ever-changing global economy, knowledge of other cultures is becoming more and more important. As a result, today's college students are more interested in, and aware of, the importance of travel and study abroad. On Tuesday, March 26, Dr. Catherine Clark and Dr. Larry Wilburn will discuss international study as part of Averett's 1859-Coffeehouse Lecture Series. Wilburn will present the history of study abroad at Averett – its founding and initial programs. Clark will share the University's future goals, including the importance of international education in the 21st century and options for internationalizing the curriculum at small liberal arts colleges. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the multipurpose room of the Student Center.
