Averett has partnered with Google for student and alumni email.

The change will take place officially on June 30, 2008. On June 30, email for all current students will begin automatically forwarding to your new aumail account.

All students and alumni need to switchover as of June 30, 2008. We will forward mail from active student accounts until October 1, 2008 or until the server is replaced. Alumni mail will not be forwarded.

While this change will provide students and alumni with a much richer email experience, some inconvenience is inevitable with the switchover.

The test group has been extremely positive about the change over the past several months and most users of the new system have been pleased.

Your new aumail email account is now available. Your official Averett email address will change to this format:

yourusername@aumail.averett.edu

You can access your mail from anywhere using either of these links:

Your login ID (username) will stay the same except for an aumail.averett.edu address change. Any first name dot last name alias ID's (ie. joe.smith@averett.edu) will NOT work from now on - only your official username will work. Your password is the same.

If you are Staff or Faculty your email will NOT change, only students and alumni who do not work for Averett will be changed at this time.

The messages in your Averett webmail inbox can be transferred to your new aumail account by following these instructions:

1. login to your aumail account, go to the inbox
2. click 'settings'
3. click 'accounts'
4. click 'add another mail account' (a new window will appear)
5. enter your old email address @averett.edu

Enter these settings:
Username: Your Username Here
Password: Your Password Here
POP Server: pop.averett.edu Port: 110
- DO NOT check the "secure connection' box
- The other check boxes are optional
- click 'add account'
- check 'NO' in response to the 'send mail as' question.
- click 'finish'

These steps will transfer messages from your webmail INBOX to your new aumail account. Mail stored in webmail folders other than the INBOX will NOT transfer.
