Title: Facility Monitor
Department: GPS Regional
Location: Newport News

Position Description/Application Process
This position is located at off-campus facilities operated by the Graduate and Professional Studies program. This position is intended to ensure that facilities are organized, clean, and secure. This is a part-time hourly position without benefits.

Qualifications include:

  • > Minimum qualifications: Must possess high school diploma or equivalent. Must have experience working with the public. Must speak English fluently. Training Required: •Basic First Aid •Advanced CPR

Duties include:

  • > While this is not a security position, the Facility Monitor will ensure that only authorized faculty, staff, and students are using Averett facilities and that appropriate procedures are followed in the event of an emergency. When required the Facility Monitor assists in troubleshooting IT and technical problems. • Assist students/faculty in accessing facilities • Ensure classrooms are ready for class, boards are clean, and equipment ready • Assist faculty and students in resolving minor technical problems • Ensure facility is only accessed by faculty, staff, and students; notify appropriate authorities in the event of trespassing • Assist with troubleshooting IT and technical problems • Implement security and emergency response protocols as required • Report unusual classroom activities or incidents • Assist with minor equipment and facility repairs as required



Work Schedule:
5-10 pm. Monday-Thursday. 20 hours/week.

Physical Demands:
Light to Moderate. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
