Title: Student Services Coordinator

Position Description/Application Process
A Student Services Coordinator provides outstanding customer service in assisting students and parents in completing administrative University tasks. The Student Services Coordinator provides direct front-desk customer assistance; directs and provides information to customers, and facilitates the resolution of customer concerns and queries.

Title: Head Men’s Basketball Coach
Department: Athletics Coaches
Location: Main Campus, Danville, Virginia

Position Description/Application Process
The men’s basketball coach will be responsible for management of all aspects of this Division III program including, but not limited to: day-to-day operations; scheduling of contests; recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes; fiscal planning; game strategy including practice and game coaching; supervising and evaluating basketball assistants and staff; and donor, alumni, community, and media relations.

Qualifications include:
> Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, 3+ years of successful basketball coaching experience, strong management, recruiting, computer and technology skills. Applicants and candidates should demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills. Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, Head coaching and collegiate experience preferred.

Title: Assistant Chief Flight Instructor
Department: Aeronautics
Location: Main Campus, Danville, Virginia

Position Description/Application Process
The Averett University Department of Aeronautics is seeking one qualified applicant for the position of Assistant Chief Flight Instructor. This position does not lead to tenure. The Aeronautics Program includes three concentrations in the major of Aerospace Management: Aviation Business, Flight Operations, and Aerospace Management/Criminal Justice. This person is the assistant to the Chief Flight Instructor in charge of flight operations supporting the mission of the Department of Aeronautics at Averett University.

Qualifications include:
> All FAA flight certificates through all flight instructor certificates. Airline Transport Pilot Certificate is preferred. - Three (3) years experience as a flight instructor with a minimum of 1500 hours PIC. Supplemented with eligibility for designation as Assistant Chief Flight Instructor under FAR Part 141 Experience as a Flight Instructor in a FAR Part 141 flight training program is preferred. Ability to maintain a current FAA Class II Medical Certificate at all times. Demonstrated ability to be a role model to all that reflects highly on the Averett University Department of Aeronautics. A Bachelor’s degree is required. Preferred candidates will have at least three years of applicable industry/aviation academic experience and appropriate FAA Certificates as competition is very competitive.

Duties include:
> Provides leadership, mentoring, and guidance for Flight and Ground Instructors, assists the Chief Flight Instructor with in-house and outsourced Maintenance, and staff. Effectively and efficiently helps manages all Flight Center activities to thoroughly assure Averett University’s commitment to safety, compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Averett University requirements, standards, procedures, and policies related to professional excellence in aviation education, maintenance, and business operations. Responsible for teaching all Part 141 Ground Schools. Assists in assuring the accurate, timely, and thorough preparation and completion of all flight, maintenance, and academic records and reports for the Department of Aeronautics. Assists in assuring the professional standardization and excellence of the Flight Center operations and courses. Responsible for scheduling and maintaining the Flight Center’s AATD. Assist the Chief Flight Instructor in performing transfer student flight proficiency flights, FAR Part 141 stage checks, and flight instructor assessment flights. Other duties include building excellent relationships with industry, creating and assisting in curriculum planning and development such as ATP academic training FITS, research, and implementing new initiatives and programs. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Technology Services (CIO), this position is responsible for providing a “best in class” information technology and facilities experience for faculty, staff and students at the university’s regional campuses including: (1) supporting the computer, audio visual and telephony hardware, connectivity, and various higher education software applications; (2) ensuring the facilities are open, clean, and functional, and; (3) supervising the Facility Monitors in achieving items (1) and (2) and that they are trained to respond to emergency situations. Thoroughly ensures all work performed by the Facility Monitors is completed and placed into the appropriate call-tracking medium and provides reports and statistical analysis upon request. Travels between Averett’s regional campuses and main campus as required. Participates in project development and roll out implementation, and provides other services as appropriate and assigned by CIO.

Qualifications include:

Title: Instructional Technologist

Averett University, located in historic Danville, Virginia, is a private, co-educational, liberal arts University with degree programs offered throughout the Commonwealth. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, the University seeks an Instructional Technologist who will work with faculty using best practices to select, design, produce and integrate instructional and educational solutions to achieve innovative pedagogy that captures the imagination of today’s learner in traditional, accelerated, and fully online classes. This individual will assist faculty in the creation of faculty projects, workshops, and instructional courseware/media development. Hours: Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Some travel in Virginia required.

Qualifications include:
> Master’s degree in instructional design/technology or equivalent appropriate academic preparation plus three to five years relevant experience in an educational or training setting Comprehensive knowledge of educational/instructional technology, software, and multimedia development on various platforms and educational problem analysis and systems solutions definition and interface design Demonstrated experience with administering, supporting, and training of content delivery systems (LMS) Working knowledge of PCs (Windows OS) and Macs (OS 10.x). Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office (PC and MAC) and Adobe products Demonstrated competence in multimedia authoring /production tools, e.g. iMovie, Authorware, Flash); web development, web programming, web communication tools, graphic applications and design; and database design. Duties include:
> Plan, coordinate, and conduct workshops in the use of technologies for faculty and staff. Assist full-time and adjunct faculty with incorporating discipline-specific technologies, including, but not limited to, the following areas: o Utilizing existing resources available on campus, over the Internet, from other universities, or commercially distributed o Utilizing the LMS (Moodle-based) course management system and serving as the support person for faculty and students in using the system o Expanding faculty teaching methods and confidence in using multimedia classrooms (using simulations, presentations, computer- or technology-assisted methods) o Developing teaching materials and preparing assessment materials Assist faculty in developing courses and programs for online delivery based on instructional design best practices and established policies Review online courses and document the review with the developing faculty member, ensuring quality standards are met Develop relationships with vendors, peer institutions, and academic organizations in order to foster and increase the use of instructional technology in higher education Communicate with and educate users of varying technical knowledge (senior administration, faculty, staff, or students) Coordinate the development of future instructional technology needs and serve as a liaison between faculty and the Information Technology Department Create and support electronic resources such as an Instructional Technology website, FAQs, tutorials, help guides, etc.
