Title: Coordinator of Student Engagement and Leadership D

Position Description/Application Process
The Coordinator of Student Engagement and Leadership Development is a twelve-month position reporting to the Dean of Students with responsibilities that foster the development of a campus environment that promotes student and community development.

Qualifications include:
> Bachelor’s degree field required. History of active involvement in campus activities and student leadership roles as an undergraduate is required. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of student and campus constituents and an understanding of how campus activities planning and student development theory serve as an integral part of student leader development is required. Commitment to student learning and promoting an understanding of the value of diversity is required.

Duties include:
>  Advise the Cougar Activities Board (programming board). Provide student leader training, event planning support, and oversight of budget management. Coordinate travel to regional or national NACA conference for leadership of CAB.  Manage the programming office budget of approximately $120,000.  Coordinate, with the Student Government Association, oversight of Averett’s student organizations. Provide leadership training for the organizations and event planning and budget management support to student organizations arranging social, recreational, educational, and cultural events on campus. Provide training and support to organization advisors.  Provide leadership to the university’s new student orientation program. Includes selection, training, and supervision of student orientation leaders; coordination and development of transition materials for newly admitted students; communication and coordination with university departments to create, implement, and evaluate summer, fall, and spring orientation programs.  Provide leadership for campus-wide programming, in collaboration with student organizations, offices, and departments, including intentional activities during the first six weeks of each semester, and late night and weekend events, campus activities, and assistance with major university events (fall opening, homecoming, etc.) throughout the rest of the academic year. Includes coordination with other offices and student groups, and assessment of programs.  Negotiate contracts with booking agents for acts brought to campus by student organizations, and coordinate the management of contracts for other campus departments and events  Manage the daily operations of the University Student Center. Select, train, and manage student building manager staff, coordinate preparations and set-up for events in the facility; assist with the management and continued development of student meeting, lounge, and recreation spaces  Advise the university’s Greek Life system. Directly advise the Inter-Greek Council, provide leadership to individual organizations; coordinate new expansion efforts of the Greek Life system.  Participate in campus-wide programming as a representative of student interests and/or the Dean of Students office on college committees  Manage the daily operations of the University Fitness Center. Select, train, and manage student staff.  Attend Student Life Staff meetings.  The opportunity exists to serve as an instructor for a section of the university’s IDS (Freshman Success) class in the fall semester.  Perform other duties as assigned.

The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and leads a team charged with the financial stewardship of the University including accounting, financial reporting, cash management, endowment management, payroll and benefits, accounts payable, accounts receivable, audit, tax compliance, asset management and mail services.

Qualifications include:

Title: Assistant Chief Flight Instructor
Department: Aeronautics
Location: Main Campus, Danville, Virginia

Position Description/Application Process
The Averett University Department of Aeronautics is seeking one qualified applicant for the position of Assistant Chief Flight Instructor. This position does not lead to tenure. The Aeronautics Program includes three concentrations in the major of Aerospace Management: Aviation Business, Flight Operations, and Aerospace Management/Criminal Justice. This person is the assistant to the Chief Flight Instructor in charge of flight operations supporting the mission of the Department of Aeronautics at Averett University.

Qualifications include:
> All FAA flight certificates through all flight instructor certificates. Airline Transport Pilot Certificate is preferred. - Three (3) years experience as a flight instructor with a minimum of 1500 hours PIC. Supplemented with eligibility for designation as Assistant Chief Flight Instructor under FAR Part 141 Experience as a Flight Instructor in a FAR Part 141 flight training program is preferred. Ability to maintain a current FAA Class II Medical Certificate at all times. Demonstrated ability to be a role model to all that reflects highly on the Averett University Department of Aeronautics. A Bachelor’s degree is required. Preferred candidates will have at least three years of applicable industry/aviation academic experience and appropriate FAA Certificates as competition is very competitive.

Duties include:
> Provides leadership, mentoring, and guidance for Flight and Ground Instructors, assists the Chief Flight Instructor with in-house and outsourced Maintenance, and staff. Effectively and efficiently helps manages all Flight Center activities to thoroughly assure Averett University’s commitment to safety, compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Averett University requirements, standards, procedures, and policies related to professional excellence in aviation education, maintenance, and business operations. Responsible for teaching all Part 141 Ground Schools. Assists in assuring the accurate, timely, and thorough preparation and completion of all flight, maintenance, and academic records and reports for the Department of Aeronautics. Thoroughly ensures all work performed by the Facility Monitors is completed and placed into the appropriate call-tracking medium and provides reports and statistical analysis upon request. Travels between Averett’s regional campuses and main campus as required. Participates in project development and roll out implementation, and provides other services as appropriate and assigned by CIO.
