Homecoming 2011: You Do not Want to Miss It!

September 26, 2011

This year, Homecoming weekend will be full of fun events and reunions. Homecoming is Sept. 30-Oct. 2 and several activities have been planned.

The first event to kick-off the weekend festivities is the Averett Homecoming Hometown Party, which will take place at the Community Market on Friday, Sept. 30 from 6:30-10:30 p.m. There will be food provided by Outback Steakhouse. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at Alumni Hall, The Schoolfield House Booksellers and the Danville Welcome Center. Also, childcare will be provided by the Danville Science Center ($20 per child). For tickets or more information, call 434-791-5676.

On Oct. 1, there will be tailgating at the North Campus - make sure to register for your free space - before the football game as well as the Club Carnival. The football game starts at 1 p.m. Come cheer on the Cougars as they play N.C. Wesleyan College. In addition to the crowning of the Homecoming king and queen during halftime there will be special recognition of Dr. Frank Campbell, former Averett president, who is being inducted into the Cougar Club Hall of Fame earlier in the day. Women's soccer will also play against N.C. Wesleyan at 4 p.m.
