Richmond Job Fair Deemed a Success

November 9, 2011

Averett's Richmond team hosted a Job Fair at the Watkins Centre on Oct. 10 that hosted more than 50 employers - 16 more than last year. In addition, more than 650 job seekers attended the Job Fair and 84 of them inquired about Averett degree programs.

"I am thrilled with our results!" said Melissa Anderson, regional director of enrollment. "It is an amazing feeling to know that a project we all put many hours and hard work into is helping to change the lives of many members of our community.

Along with providing an opportunity for jobseekers to meet with potential employers, the event also included four workshops geared toward résumé writing, interview skills, professional image and electronic job searching.

The event received live media coverage from two major news stations in the Richmond area and it was the story of the day on one of those stations.

Since the Job Fair was held, approximately 20 of the job seekers have interviews scheduled due to attending the fair.
