Community Foundation Awards $23,500 for Autism Director Match

Jan. 19, 2012

The Community Foundation of The Dan River Region has awarded $23,500 to Averett University to help provide matching funds toward a challenge grant from an Averett Trustee. The funds are for hiring a Director of Autism Studies, who will oversee the expansion of Averett's autism education initiative and early intervention programs.

Thanks to the generous support of the Community Foundation and other donors, Averett plans to begin the search for its Director of Autism Studies this spring.

The Community Foundation awarded more than $577,000 to 45 local non-profits during their 2012 Grant Reception on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
