Three students in the Averett University Classical Guitar Ensemble, along with their instructor Dr. Larry Wilburn, will perform in the guitar orchestra behind the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet on March 16 at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC.
The opportunity to perform with this internationally known quartet was offered to area teachers and their students by the Guilford classical guitar professor Kami Rowan. The Averett guitarists jumped at the chance and have been practicing for several weeks.

More information: In March 2012, the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet is playing a series of concerts with guitar orchestras, featuring a new work by Kyoto-based composer/guitarist Shingo Fujii. The piece is entitled "Shiki: Seasons of Japan" and is a Fantasia on Japanese Folksongs, dedicated to the victims of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. To mark the one-year anniversary of this national tragedy, the new work will be performed by the Grammy-winning LAGQ with guitar orchestras of young students in the U.S., conducted by Mr. Fujii.
