University Set to Welcome Prospective Students for Private College Week

July 27, 2012

Averett University is one of 24 private colleges and universities statewide that will welcome prospective students during Virginia's Private College Week, July 30-Aug. 4. Students who visit at least three of Virginia's private colleges during the week will receive three application fee waivers. Students may use these waivers to apply to any three private colleges or universities for free. Averett does not have an application fee.

"We strongly encourage any student interested in learning about Averett to visit and see firsthand how Averett can set them on their path to a bold future through a quality and affordable education," said Joel Nester, director of admissions and international student counselor at Averett. "One of the nice things about Private College Week is that it allows us to demonstrate what an amazing value a private college is and what sets Averett apart from the rest."

Averett will hold two open house programs a day, July 30-Aug. 4, for prospective students and their families — one session at 9 a.m. and another at 2 p.m. There will only be one session on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 9 a.m. All sessions begin with registration in the Student Center multipurpose room, which is located on the corner of Woodland Drive and Townes Street on Averett's Main Campus. During the visits, students and their families will tour the campus and learn about Averett's academic and extracurricular offerings as well as receive information about scholarships and admissions procedures.
