Third-Parties Endorse Averett

Respected third-party endorsers continue to recognize the value of a degree from Averett University. In September, the University learned that G.I. Jobs magazine has recognized it as being "military friendly" for the third consecutive year. In a separate endorsement, Averett was recognized in U.S. News & World Report's 2013 Best Colleges rankings. Averett was ranked 27th among Regional Colleges (South), up seven places from last year.

The recognition from G.I. Jobs ranks the University in the top 15 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide that are working to help America's military and veterans as students. The schools that were selected were weighted on scholarships and discounts, veterans' clubs, full-time staff, military credit and other services to those who served.

"We are honored to have been named a military friendly school for the third year in a row," said Janet Roberson, registrar and military affairs officer at Averett. "It's very important to us here at Averett to make sure current members of the military as well as veterans and their families have easy access to a quality education at an affordable price."

In its U.S. News & World Report ranking, Averett is the highest-ranking Virginia school among the 79 top tier schools listed as Regional Colleges. According to U.S. News & World Report, schools in this category "are focused almost entirely on the undergraduate experience and offer a broad range of programs in the liberal arts." Regional Colleges grant more than half of their bachelor's degrees in fields like business, nursing and education.

"We are very excited about our new ranking in the 2013 Best Colleges Guide," said Dr. Stuart Jones, Averett's vice president for enrollment management. "This ranking is a well-deserved acknowledgement of the focus and energy that our faculty, staff and leadership have made to our students' big dreams, and comes on the heels of our third consecutive year of record enrollment for new students."
