Averett Celebrates Christmas

November 5, 2012

Averett University will hold its annual Averett Celebrates Christmas event Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Pritchett Auditorium. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature a 40-voice combined choir of singers from the community as well as the Averett Singers.

"I love that we are able to bring this event to the community," said Dr. Gail Allen, who directs the Averett Singers and is head of the music department. "We see it as a great start to the Christmas season, as well as our gift to the Danville community for their continued support of Averett and all that we do. It is our hope that you enjoy this event as much as we've enjoyed preparing for it."

The campus will be lighted with blue, white and gold Christmas tree balls. The night will include a concert of music with guest instrumentalists including the Danville String Quartet and readings for the Advent and Christmas seasons. Weather permitting, the University will officially light the Christmas tree outside of Pritchett.

Prior to the event, our special holiday meal will be served in the dining hall on the second floor of the Student Center from 5-7:30 p.m. Dinner that evening is $9.25 (plus tax) for adults, $6.25 (plus tax) for children ages 7-12 and children six and under dine free.
