December Commencement Ceremony

During the University's winter Commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 8 at the E. Stuart James Grant Convocation Center more than 420 students received their diplomas. Averett President Dr. Tiffany Franks awarded 186 master's degrees and 236 bachelor's degrees during the ceremony.

Four students were recognized for their academic achievements. Those recognized were: Joyce Lynn Hall of Doswell who received the Malcolm Knowles Award for having the highest GPA in the GPS Program; David Ronald Reedy of Salem who received the Frank Campbell Award for having the second highest grade point average in the GPS Program; Jeannie Richardson Lowery of Bassett who received the Mary C. Fugate Award for having the highest grade point average in the traditional program; and Lynnette Dyan McMurry of Nathalie who received the Grace V. Crenshaw Award for having the second highest grade point average in the traditional program.
