Community Foundation Awards Grant for New Classroom

February 4, 2013

Averett University was recently one of 44 non-profit community organizations to receive a grant from the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region. The grant will allow Averett to outfit a "classroom of the future" at its North Campus.

As it seeks to attract the millennial generation, Averett knows that up-to-date technology is essential for recruiting new students. The University already has two "classrooms of the future" on its Main Campus and all of the classrooms at its Riverview Campus follow this model. This will be the first classroom on the North Campus to be updated and will ensure Averett students access an equitable experience no matter where they study on our campuses. The classroom at the North Campus will feature new technology, a faculty station, screen, ceiling mount LCD screen and furniture.

Outfitting its classrooms with the most up-to-date technology is part of the University's $25 million capital campaign, and Averett is still raising money to fund new classrooms.

If you would like to help fund a "classroom of the future," or contribute to Averett's capital campaign please contact Buddy Rawley, vice president for institutional advancement at 434-791-5654 or brawley@averett.edu.
