There's a nip in the air, and that can only mean one thing — it's Homecoming at Averett University! Everyone is invited to join in the University's festivities Sept. 27-29 at the Main and North campuses.
On Friday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. there will be an Alumni Career Expo and Job Fair in the multipurpose room (second floor) of the Student Center, which is located on the corner of Woodland Drive and Townes Street. Job recruiters from local companies will be in attendance.
If you have a student, or know of one, who will be attending college next fall, come to Cougar Preview Day, Saturday, Sept. 28 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Learn about Averett, and all we have to offer, then stay for the rest of the day's festivities.
Tailgating on Saturday begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North Campus (707 Mount Cross Rd.). Tailgate spaces are $5 per space and may be reserved in advance. To reserve your space, visit www.averett.edu/homecoming. The football game begins at 1 p.m. when the Averett Cougars take on N.C. Wesleyan. Admission to the football game is $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and free for children 12 and under. However, if you bring two to three cans of food per person to support God's Storehouse, that will cover the cost of admission to the football game.
Then on Sunday at 10 a.m. in Blount Chapel, the University will hold its annual service of remembrance in which it honors members of the Averett community who passed away in the last year. Following the chapel service, brunch will be served in the Averett dining hall (dutch treat).
