After two weeks of intense winter weather, the day of the Averett Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) show came sunny and warm. Teams from St. Andrews University, North Carolina State University, Elon University and Longwood University competed against Averett for the last home show of the season. Scores were extremely close and it came down to the last few riders of the day to determine the final team placing. Averett's Team A finished the day in first place, and the University is currently ranked first in the region. The individual scores are as follows:

At Intro:
Sophomore Kathleen Nettnin placed 5th
Sophomore Sydney Owen placed 6th

At Lower Training:
Senior Catherine Doane placed 2nd
Senior Nicki Conradt-Eberlin placed 5th

At Upper Training:
Freshman Amanda Arnold placed 2nd
Senior Lindsey Baker placed 3rd

At First Level:
Senior Shannon Stone placed 1st
Senior Jessie Hayes placed 4th

Shannon was also the Reserve High Point Rider of the day with a score of 70.81 percent.

Averett also held a new Dressage Seat Equitation class where senior Deanna Beebe placed first and junior Scnobia Stewart placed third.

Graduating seniors were recognized at this, their final home show. Graduates include Shannon Stone and Jessie Hayes at first level; Lindsey Baker at Upper Training; and Catherine Doane, Nicki Conradt-Eberlin, Natalie Lademan and Deana Beebe at Lower Training. All seven of these riders have been active competitors on the IDA team since their first year.

Next weekend on Sunday, March 2, the team travels to St. Andrews University for the last show of the season. The day's outcome will determine final standings for individual slots at the National Championships. Averett is hosting the National Championships this year April 11-13.
