By Catherine Doane '14

Averett's Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) team shone on Sunday, March 2 at St. Andrews University during the last competition of the regular season. The team went into the weekend with a four point lead over the second place team, St. Andrews, and held them off to secure first place in the region. Averett finished first and third overall, thanks to the following rides:

At First Level:
Senior Shannon Stone placed fourth
Senior Jessie Hayes placed third

At Upper Training:
Senior Lindsey Baker placed first
Freshman Amanda Arnold placed second

At Lower Training:
Senior Catherine Doane placed first
Senior Nicki Conradt-Eberlin placed fourth

At Intro:
Sophomore Kathleen Nettnin placed second
Sophomore Sydney Owen placed seventh

Lindsey Baker was the Reserve High Point Rider of the day, and Catherine Doane was the High Point Rider.

Thanks to their year-long success, Averett's IDA team will be sending a team of riders to represent the University at the National Championships April 12-13 at the Old Dominion Agriculture Complex in Chatham. Those representing Averett as individual riders will be Shannon Stone, Amanda Arnold and Catherine Doane, who all finished as Region Champions for their respective divisions.
