Averett Brings Degree Programs to South Boston
March 30, 2009
Earning an Averett University degree is now more convenient for South Boston area residents. Averett announced today that it will begin offering degree programs at South Boston's Southern Virginia Higher Education Center. Both undergraduate and graduate level classes will begin this summer.
"Averett is pleased to partner with the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center," said Dr. Steve Ausband, Averett dean of arts and science. "We share the common goal of providing the citizens of this region with the access they need to quality, higher education."
Averett will offer degree programs leading to a bachelor's degree in business administration and master's degrees in business administration and education (curriculum and instruction). The University will also offer education courses allowing certified teachers to renew their certification. Other courses in liberal arts and sciences will be available, depending on demand.
"A college education is still one of the best investments a person can make," Ausband said. "Averett has a long history of designing academic programs that fit the needs of working adults and others who are limited in their ability to travel to our Danville Campus.
We hope that by offering these degree programs in South Boston, area residents who have always wanted to complete a degree will now have access to the courses they need."
Averett is now accepting applications for its undergraduate and graduate degree programs in South Boston. For information please contact Katherine Pappas-Smith at (434) 791-5844 (e-mail katherine.pappas-smith@averett.edu).
