Averett Taps New Vice President for Enrollment Management

Feb. 17, 2010

Averett University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Stuart D. Jones as vice president for enrollment management. Jones joins Averett's leadership team with 15 years experience in the areas of enrollment, retention and student services.

"We are pleased to welcome Dr. Jones to Averett," said Dr. Tiffany Franks, Averett president. "It is important to have someone leading our enrollment effort who understands the breadth of the student experience. Dr. Jones brings a background not only in student recruitment but also in retention, student affairs and services and alumni relations."

Jones currently serves as dean of enrollment and executive director of the Student Success Center at Manchester College in Indiana. He has served Manchester College in a variety of directorship positions since joining the liberal arts college in 2002 including career services, volunteer services, and conference services. Prior to joining Manchester College, Jones served Purdue University where he worked in the areas of career services, development and alumni relations.

Jones accomplishments at Manchester include spearheading a 37 percent increase in enrollment over the last three years. He was also instrumental in establishing campus-wide retention initiatives including the college's Student Success Center which encompasses six student service departments and leads in the implementation of student learning centered programs. The Success Center is considered a hallmark for recruitment and has since been replicated by other colleges. Jones has also been a speaker and presenter at various regional and national higher education conferences.

Jones will join the Averett staff on March 15.

"I'm excited about the opportunities for growth and innovation I see at Averett," Jones said. "It is an established university with years of tradition, but it is also a place of new energy, excitement, and great possibilities. I'm looking forward to being a part of that energy and a partner in Averett's future growth."

Jones holds earned his undergraduate degree in interpersonal and public communication from Purdue, a master of arts in divinity from the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis and a doctorate in education with an emphasis in higher education leadership from Northcentral University in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
