Prospective Students Welcomed at Averett During Private College Week

Averett University welcomed 35 prospective students to its Danville campus during Virginia's Private College Week, July 26-31, said James Thurnes, campus guest coordinator. Most of the students were rising high school seniors. Students who visited three or more of Virginia's 25 private colleges and universities that week will receive three application fee waivers.

"Visiting during the summer is a great head start for rising juniors and seniors," said Joel Nester, director of admissions and international student counselor at Averett. "Small group tours and informal admission and financial aid sessions are part of the Private College Week tour. Private College Week allows students to see firsthand how Averett can take their big dreams and turn them into bold futures."

The 35 students and their families who visited Averett last week toured the campus,learned about the University's academic and extracurricular offerings and received information about scholarships and admissions procedures.
