IDA Team Places Seventh at Nationals

Averett Intercollegiate Dressage Team (IDA) competed in the national competition at the University of Florida April 29-30. The team, which competed against 11 other teams including Virginia Intermont College, Lake Erie College, Delaware Valley College and Johnson & Wales University among others, placed seventh overall.

Team riders were junior Emily Henderson, freshman Shannon Stone, graduating senior Valerie Harr and junior Catherine Rock.

On individual day Henderson won reserve national champion at the first level. Other students who competed on individual day were graduating senior Christina Fiebeck and Rock.

Ginger Henderson, assistant professor of equestrian studies and coach of the IDA Team was named IDA Coach of the Year. She was nominated by the University's team and voted on by the association.
