Henderson Named Coach of the Year

Averett University is excited to announce that Ginger Henderson, assistant professor of equestrian studies and coach of the Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) Team, was named IDA Coach of the Year during the national competition at the University of Florida April 29-30. She was nominated by the University's team and voted on by the association.

Henderson, a 1987 alumna, has taught at the University since 2006. She is chair of the University's equestrian studies department and co-coach of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association's Hunt seat team. She currently serves on the IDA National Board of Directors and holds the position of regional representative for Region I.

She is certified as an ARIA level III dressage and level I eventing instructor. She is also certified as both a mental health and equine specialist through EAGALA, the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association. She is also a licensed in Virginia as a mental health counselor.
