Christmas in July at Averett

July 6, 2011

It's July, which means it is extremely hot and humid here in Danville. The cold weather of December seems to be ages away. This also means thoughts of Christmas are nearly non-existent (except for those early shoppers who are already half way done with their shopping). For those who need a break from the heat and to look forward to cooler temperatures, Averett is holding a Christmas ball workshop at 6 p.m. on July 12 in the Student Center dining hall. The cost of the workshop is $10, children 12 and under are free; pizza and refreshments will be provided.

Not only will you learn how to make these great holiday decorations, but we will also help you craft up to three ornaments to take home as a sample. In addition, our staff will be working to create new balls to add to the University's holiday display - we would love to have your help if you are able to stay.

The chicken wire that will be used does have a tendency to turn hands and clothing black so dress appropriately. Work gloves are recommended.

Please register for the workshop by July 10 by calling 791-5600.
