University Holding Annual SAT Prep Workshop

August 31, 2011

Averett University's Office of Student Success will hold a SAT Prep Workshop for all students preparing to take the test on Saturday, Sept. 17. The cost of the workshop is $10, which may be paid that day. Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m. in Blount Chapel, and the workshop will from run 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

During the workshop, participants will review the math, English composition and critical reading portion of the test. Students will also receive tips on how to master the SAT as well as the best methods of studying for the test.

"Today's college environment is extremely competitive and the majority of higher education institutions look critically at SAT scores," said Dr. Mary Vanderlinden, assistant dean of Student Success. "Higher SAT scores often mean greater options for college bound students."

The SAT is a standardized test that assesses the critical reading, mathematics and writing skills that students need to be successful in college. Each of the three sections that comprise the SAT Reasoning Test has a possible score of 800 points.

Seats must be reserved by students who want to attend. To reserve a seat, contact Vanderlinden at mvanderl@averett.edu or 434-791-5754.
