Alumnus Tony Wood, '83, has been nominated for the Dove Award for Song Writer of the Year, Inspirational Recorded Song and Southern Gospel Recorded Song. The awards will be presented at the 39th Annual Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards on April 23.
Wood co-wrote two Song of the Year nominees – "Empty Me" with Chris Sligh and Clint Lagerberg and "I'm Letting Go" with Francesca Battistelli and Ian Eskelin. He also co-wrote a nominee for inspirational recorded song "For the Glory of You" on Mark Harris' Record "Windows and Walls;" and a nominee for southern gospel recorded song "Welcome to the Family" on the Booth Brothers' album "Room for More."
In 2007 he won a Dove Award for Best Inspirational Song of Year for "Find Your Wings," which was recorded by Mark Harris. Wood works for Brentwood-Benson Publishing in Nashville.
