New Dean of Students Joins Averett
Averett University is pleased to announce that William C. "Bill" Woodward is the University's new dean of students. As dean of students, Woodward will serve as an advocate for the entire student population, with particular emphasis on international students, Greek life, student government and campus judiciary matters. He will also be the liaison to the faculty and devote time to parent outreach.
"We are delighted to have Bill join the Averett Student Life family," said Charles Harris, vice president of student services. "The breadth and depth of his background will be complimentary to the extraordinary team that is already in place."
Woodward spent the past four years as associate dean for campus life at Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C. As associate dean, he worked with new student orientation, the judicial program, student leadership and engagement, and intramurals. He also developed programs specifically for sophomores.
"I'm excited about joining the Averett family," Woodward said. "I look forward to the many opportunities I'll have to work with the students, as well as the rest of the university community."
Prior to his position at Guilford College he spent seven years as director of orientation and parents weekend programs at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. He also served as residence hall coordinator at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C.
He is currently pursuing his doctorate degree in higher education administration at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro. He received his master of science degree in college student personnel administration from Indiana University and his bachelor's in geography from the University at Albany, State University of New York. |
