UPDATE
February 15, 2008
The search moves forward for the 24th President of Averett University. The search committee, composed of representatives of the Board of Trustees, alumni, students, faculty, staff and the Danville community, continues to work with our search firm in advertising this position and making contacts with potential candidates. The position has been advertised in the Chronicle of Higher Education and numerous contacts have been made with a wide variety of potential candidates.
After many interviews with representatives of the different campus constituencies and representatives of the alumni and public, a Profile was prepared by the search firm to give guidance to the committee and information about Averett to the possible candidates. A copy of that Profile is available here. The deadline for identifying potential candidates is February 22, 2008. At the end of this month, the search committee will begin the process of reviewing candidate applications and nominations and plans to begin interviews in March.
Our timeline for this process has been to present a potential candidate to the Board of Trustees at the spring meeting in April, with a selection made and announcement of the next Averett University President in May. While circumstances may dictate changes in this timeline, we are presently on schedule to meet these dates.
