Averett Splits at Montreat

MONTREAT, N.C. - The Averett University baseball team split on the road at Montreat College Thursday. Montreat defeated Averett in game one by a 10-4 final, but the Cougars bounced back in game two and won by an 8-4 margin.

In game one, Ben Robertson was the losing pitcher the Cougars. Ben Rezeli and J.T. Hyler both homered in game one for Averett (8-5).

In the closer, Rezeli tattooed his second home run of the day. Gene Yost also left the yard in the 8-4 victory. Justin Johnson was the game's winning pitcher, with Drake Shumate earning the save in relief.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday with a double header at Greensboro College.
